Description The Ford Capri Car Club was formed in Auckland in September 1978 by a group of Ford Capri Owners who wanted to enjoy using their cars together mainly for social events and outings. Since then membership has grown and the club has become well established in other parts of the country. There are now area branches in Wellington, Hawkes Bay, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Manawatu, Taranaki, Auckland, Upper South Island, Canterbury and the Lower South Island.

A quarterly magazine, “Capri Capers”, is available to all financial members. The magazine contains details of coming events, technical articles, writeup’s of recent events, parts and cars for sale and handy hints. All members are encouraged to attend other branches events, as well as those in their own area.

The club AGM is held in different regions each year on Queens Birthday Weekend. Members can put forward their own views and their areas views on matters affecting the administration of the club. This has proved to be the focal point of the year with members from all areas making the journey to show off their cars, meet up with friends, talk cars, show and shine with concourse judging, touring and generally have a good time. The AGM will be held in Rotorua 2014. Please contact club secretary for details.

Over the last few years we have developed another club tradition, Summer Camp. Held in different regions each year every Waitangi weekend. This fun-filled, family oriented few days and nights, compliments the AGM weekend perfectly with more emphasis on sightseeing, social events and family activities. 2014 celebrated a decade of events located in Waihi. There is a firm following of young and old, committed and mostly commit-able, Summer Camp 2015 has not yet been confirmed, the proposal is Raglan.

Technical advice is available to all members through the magazine or from experienced members of each branch who help keep the legend alive. They will also advise on, and where possible, help trace hard to find parts for all models. Club members with similar cars to your own often assist with any problems you may have. Members may also advertise want ads and cars for sale in the magazine. The magazine is the lifeblood of the club and all members are encouraged to contribute articles or shorter items of interest.

We are sure that as a Capri owner you will enjoy and benefit from being part of the club, whether just to have contact with other Capri owners, or to participate in Motorsport. The Capri is a versatile car and one that is fast earning classic status. It can be used as an everyday road car, a cherished show car, developed into a fast track car or even run as a comprimise of all of these roles. Whatever direction you as an owner take, the car will always retain it’s distinctive Capri character and the Capri Club is committed to helping members foster their passion.

Once you join the Ford Capri Car Club of New Zealand Inc, you will automatically become a member of the Motorsport Association of New Zealand (MANZ). If however you wish to participate in any driving events organised by the Capri Car Club (CCC) or other MANZ affiliated clubs (you may not participate in non–MANZ affiliated clubs events) you must apply to MANZ to obtain a competition licence.

Please contact the CCC Secretary for details.
